The city's origin dates back to 1843 when the Schertz family left France to venture to Texas with the hope of a brighter future. Today, Schertz is home to around 43,000 people, and the suburb remains true to its roots as a family-friendly locale that values "quality of life" for its residents.
Thanks to the founding forefathers and their ability to grow for the future, Schertz has become the thriving city it is today. To see a glimpse into the past, one can still find remnants of it in today’s Schertz. Schertz was incorporated as a city in 1958. Though it has grown substantially from its beginning roots, Schertz is a city that has not lost touch with its heritage, but continues to embrace it today through its celebration of festivals and events that blend the past with the future.

Before The Magnolia Pancake Haus became what it is today, it was a dream. A dream of Robert & Sheila Flemings to create a restaurant that conveyed their passion for great food, and also a lifestyle that would blend with their young family. The food was easy as Robert’s philosophy of quality & consistency had laid the foundation for The Magnolia Pancake Haus. Upon opening the doors in 2000, the word quickly spread and San Antonians came to see what all the buzz was about. The Original Haus soon became too small to accommodate the guests coming through the door and in 2006 The Magnolia Pancake Haus moved across the parking lot into what as an old roller rink and an expanded Magnolia was born.
