Alamo Colleges District - Northeast Lakeview College On-Site Accreditation Review Successful
College to be Recommended for Accreditation to SACSCOC Board
Northeast Lakeview College (NLC), the newest of the five colleges in the Alamo Colleges District, is excited to announce that its on-site committee review was successful and Northeast Lakeview College will be recommended for accreditation to the Southern Association of Colleges Commission on Colleges (SACSOC) Board.
Northeast Lakeview College participated in its SACSCOC on-site visit for accreditation February 6-9. The purpose of the visiting team was to verify the information submitted in NLC’s application for accreditation. The visit was extremely successful and the visiting team found NLC’s policies, procedures, practices, programs, services, and student results to be exceptional.
“This is a significant milestone for Northeast Lakeview College and the community it serves”, says Dr. Thomas Cleary, interim president. “The efforts and professionalism of everyone has led to this collective success. Our outstanding results are a reflection of the excellence the college community provides both in and out of the classroom.”
The members of the on-site review team are a recommending body. The next step for Northeast Lakeview College in the process will be to receive official notice of accreditation by the SACSCOC Board, currently set to take place at the December 2017 meeting.
“The trustees and I congratulate the students, faculty, staff and administrators at Northeast Lakeview College on their successful SACSCOC visit this week,” said Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Dr. Bruce Leslie. "The visiting team found no issues that would impede the college’s progress toward accreditation. Most impressive has been the collaboration of the entire Alamo Colleges District family including the strong, proactive support and contributions of the district support operations teams and colleagues from the other colleges. Thanks especially to Dr. Cleary for his leadership that has been especially noteworthy during this journey. “
Northeast Lakeview College received candidacy status in June 2016. Its recent on-site visit is the institution’s last major step towards accreditation.
